If you haven't already seen them, several Newsvine Photographers were tracking this first sunset of the year.

Mine were taking about 5pm EST in Virginia.

Here is Rottlady's first 2012 sunset taken in Springfield Missouri -- Central Time (I think.)

Here is Fletch's first sunset of 2012 taken in Hawaii.

If anyone else was tracking the New Year sunset, please feel free to link here. It's kind of fun to follow the sun:)

It just amazes me that the colors are so vibrant this time of year. Beautiful.

Was it misty? The darker clouds look like they could have been misting down, almost lightly raining.

Hi Shelby! It wasn't raining at the time, but we did have showers off and on today, so it could be mist giving the clouds in the first two photos that glowing effect. It sure was stunning, whatever it was.
