Introducing the "NVP-info" Tag

Newsvine Photographers is introducing a new tag in our library of articles.

“NVP-info” will be used as a search tag on all administrative articles and announcements about NVP policies and procedures.

This tag will also be used on articles asking for member opinions and feedback on new ideas and challenges. Often these articles will include polls to help us determine if an idea is worth pursuing, so please be sure to stop in and give us your opinion.

We encourage NVP members to add this tag to their watch list, so new articles with NVP information will automatically appear on your bottom tracker. Here's how to do it.

At the top of the page, go to the Search box and type in NVP-info. In the drop box to the right of the Search box (which normally reads Full Text) choose the Tags option. Then Click on Go, which is to the right of the drop box.

A list of articles tagged with NVP-info will appear. At the top of the page, click Watch to add this tag to your watch list.

Now you're done! It's that easy!

NVP admins will be going through the archives and updating articles, adding them to the "NVP-info" tag. We hope this will help our members find information about the group and participate more in the opinion gathering.

That's on my list of to-dos for today.

I also wanted to stress that the nvp-info tag is only meant to organize general group information so that it is easier to find.

Thanks for the article, etva! I'd encourage all member to add this to their watchlist, particularly so that they can participate in polls and other requests for member input.

Here's what I figured out -- I think. If I did the search while on the page with this article open, it took me directly to etva's column. When I went back to the Newsvine front page and then did the search, it worked as etva describes in the article.

Now that is interesting, Holly, and it did the same thing for me. Then I went to one of Ben's articles and did the search, and it pulled up Ben's column.

Apparently, if you do a tag search from someone's article it takes you to that persons page, regardless of whether or not that person has that tag. (I tried a Bosnia Tag search from Ben's article and still got his column.)

I'm guessing it's a glitch, but I'm not sure. I'll send a bug report, just in case, and they can figure out if it's a glitch.

It's not a bug... at least I don't think. You can search tags on columns (and groups). If you want to search all of Newsvine, you have to be on the front page and not on anyone's column.
